What is an Upper Endoscopy?

An upper endoscopy is a quick, minimally invasive procedure used to examine your esophagus, stomach, and upper small intestine. Using a thin, flexible tube with a camera, our specialists can detect and diagnose conditions like acid reflux, ulcers, or internal bleeding.

Speak to your Health Care Provider to consider an Upper Endoscopy

You may need an upper endoscopy if you experience:

  • Persistent heartburn
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Unexplained abdominal pain or nausea

Early diagnosis can lead to more effective treatment, so don’t hesitate to reach out if you’re experiencing symptoms.

What to Expect

The procedure is typically done in less than 30 minutes, with deep sedation to keep you comfortable. You may choose to go without sedation. It is recommended you rest for the remainder of the day. You are unable to drive or operate heavy machinery for 12 hours after your procedure.
